Hou Yan Wan
Function:
Clear heat; detoxify fire poison, stop pain. Use to treat throat diseases such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and laryngitis. #Use to treat spasms or seizures in children due to high-grade fever or central nervous system infection. Use to treat furuncles or carbuncles of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Use externally and internally with furuncles and carbuncles. When used externally, this medicine is most effective when used with a red, swollen furuncle or carbuncle without pus on the inside. If the furuncle or carbuncles has turned to an open wound with pus, do not use this medicine externally.
Ingredients:
Borax (Peng Sha),Coptis (Huang Lian),Bufonis (Chan Su),Ursi (Xiong Dan),Magarita (Zhen Zhu),Bovis (Niu Huang),Moschus moschiferi (She Xiang)
Caution: Do not use with pregnant women.
Packing; 3 vials per box; each vial containing 10 pills.
Dosage:
Internal Use: 3 times a day, taken with warm water.
Adults: 10 pills, 3 times a day.
Children: Children 1 yr.: 1 pill each time.
Children 2 yrs.: 2 pills each time.
Children 3 yrs.: 3-4 pills each time.
Children 4-8 yrs.: 5-6 pills each time.
Children 9-15yrs.: 7-9 pills each time.
External Use:
Stir at least 10 pills into a small amount of cold water or vinegar. Apply this mixture onto the periphery of the red and swollen skin area. Cover the affected area with gauze moistened with a saline solution; it is important to keep the affected area wet, otherwise the herbal medicine will not be absorbed. Store the unused solution in the refrigerator and use this same mixture several times a day. Continue to apply this mixture until the swelling and infection have disappeared.
