Actions and indications:
1. Promoting perspiration to disperse the evils from superficies
it is often combined with semen sojae praeparatum or rhizoma zingiberis recens for cold due to invasion by cold-wind, especially at the beginning stage of a mild one.
2. Dispelling evil cold from te interior and regulating yang
it is often combined with rhizoma zingiberis and radix aconiti praeparata for the treatment of cold syndrome in the interior due to invasion by abundance of evil yin-cold, accompanied with adverse rising of asthenia heat yang, which is characterized by cold limbs, watery stools, flushed face and thready pulse; and for epigastric or abdominal pain due to retention of cold and stagnation of qi, of retention of urine, the stir-baked herb can be applied on umbilicus or lower abdomen for warming the local region.
Administration and dosage:
generally, 3-9g or 3-5 pieces of the herb are used for decoction; a proper amount of the srugis used for local administration.
