Common name: bitter orange; chih-ko
function:
to disperse the stagnated flow of vital energy; to resolve hardening and the stagnated food in the gastro-intestinal tract. Used for dyspepsia, constipation and abdominal distension due to food stagnation; stuffy sensation in the chest, with yellow and thick sputum; prolapse of the uterus, rectum and stomach.
contra-indication: for a person with hypofunction of spleen and stomach.
