Function:

To tonify and regulate the vital energy of spleen, to dispel dampness and resolve stagnant phlegm, to reverse the upward flow of Qi. Use for dyspepsia, gastro-intestinal distension, cough with profuse phlegm, hiccup and vomiting.

Taste and Property: Pungent, bitter and warm

Therapeutic Meridian: Lung and spleen

Contra-indication: for a person with spitting blood, spasmodic abdonimal pain; or with no stagnation of phlegm and dampness.

Dosage: 3-9 gm.
