Externally grayish-brown, brown or dark purple, rough, with longitudinal wrinkles, transverse fissures and rootlet scars; texture hard, fracture relatively even, bark with numerous yellowish-white to yellowish-brown woolly fibres, wood yellow or yellowish-brown and approximately arranged radially. Slices irregularly rounded or elliptical. 2-5 Mm thick; cut surface purplish-red or brown. Odourless ;taste, slightly bitter and astringent.
action:
