Function:

To nourish and moisten the lung due to the deficiency of lung yin. Antitussive and expectorant. Dispel pathogenic heat from the heart and soothe the nerves. Use for cough, hemoptysis, insomniaand fidgetiness in the later stage of febrile disease, with residual heat or due to necrosis.

Taste and Property: Sweet, slightly cold

Therapeutic Meridian: Heart, lung

Contra-indication: For a person with diarrhea, or cough and phlegm production caused by wind-cold factors.
