Common Name: Bitter orange; Chih-ko
Function:
To disperse the stagnated flow of vital energy; to resolve hardening and the stagnated food in the gastro-intestinal tract. Used for dyspepsia, constipation and abdominal distension due to food stagnation; stuffy sensation in the chest, with yellow and thick sputum; prolapse of the uterus, rectum and stomach.
Contra-indication: For a person with hypofunction of spleen and stomach.
Taste and Property: Sour, bitter, slightly cold
Dosage: 3-9 gm
