Function:

1. Promoting perspiration to disperse the evils from superficies 2. Dispelling evil cold from te interior and regulating yang. It is often combined with rhizoma zingiberis and radix aconiti praeparata for the treatment of cold syndrome in the interior due to invasion by abundance of evil yin-cold, accompanied with adverse rising of asthenia heat yang, which is characterized by cold limbs, watery stools, flushed face and thready pulse; and for epigastric or abdominal pain due to retention of cold and stagnation of qi, of retention of urine, the stir-baked drug can be applied on umbilicus or lower abdomen for warming the local region. A paste of this fresh herb with hoey is used as ointment for abssscesses and pus-infections; a decocton with fresh hinger-root and raw sugar is highly effective in elininating wind-chills.
